Most material failures we get called about aren't failures of the material itself — they're failures of detailing. Board-formed concrete, standing-seam metal, and vertical-grain cedar show up across a huge range of our projects because they age visibly and honestly rather than looking simply worn out.

We avoid materials that depend on a perfect, unchanging finish to look intentional. A patina is a feature if you design for it, and a maintenance problem if you don't.
