A single-family home stepped into a north-facing slope to capture views without fighting the site.
Enquire About This ProjectThe clients wanted a home that felt warm through a long winter without disappearing into the landscape. The plan steps down the slope in three staggered volumes, each opening onto a different aspect of the site.
The Challenge
A steep, frost-heaved site and a short buildable season limited the construction window to five months a year.
The Concept
Three staggered volumes following the natural grade, connected by a full-height glazed circulation spine.
The Solution
A pre-engineered timber frame was fabricated off-site over the winter and erected in a single six-week window once the ground thawed.
Additional Information
Structural engineering, MEP, and landscape consultants coordinated in-house through construction administration.
