A 24-room lodge built around a shared great room that reads as one continuous timber structure.

The Challenge
Fire code requirements for a public accommodation building conflicted with the client's request for fully exposed timber structure.
The Concept
A central great room with exposed glulam trusses, flanked by two lower guest wings clad in reclaimed board-formed concrete.
The Solution
An engineered heavy-timber system met fire ratings without requiring the structure to be enclosed, preserving the exposed-wood concept throughout.
Additional Information
Structural engineering, MEP, and landscape consultants coordinated in-house through construction administration.
