Category
Residential
A freestanding garden pavilion and pool house added to a historic property.
Enquire About This ProjectSet behind a 19th-century house, the pavilion is deliberately contemporary — a quiet contrast to the main residence rather than an attempt to match it.
The Challenge
Local historic-district review required the new structure to be visually subordinate to the main house while still reading as intentional architecture.
The Concept
A low, glazed volume under a single folded roof plane, set below the sightline from the street.
The Solution
A sunken approach path and a planted berm keep the pavilion below the required height line without compromising the interior ceiling height.
Additional Information
Structural engineering, MEP, and landscape consultants coordinated in-house through construction administration.
