A six-story mass-timber office building on a former industrial waterfront parcel.
Enquire About This ProjectOne of the first mass-timber commercial buildings in its district, designed to hit an aggressive embodied-carbon target while remaining cost-competitive with steel and concrete.
The Challenge
Local contractors had limited experience with mass-timber erection, adding schedule risk to an already tight construction timeline.
The Concept
An exposed CLT and glulam structure on a regular column grid, left visible throughout the office floors.
The Solution
Running a dedicated mock-up phase and bringing the erection subcontractor in during design development de-risked the sequencing before it hit the field.
Additional Information
Structural engineering, MEP, and landscape consultants coordinated in-house through construction administration.
